Together with the students, we explore the infinte possibilities of the oldest and most sophisticated rhythmic concept of the world.

Our workshop deals with the universal aspects of Southindian Rhythmic that can be used on all instruments.

Most important are Solkattu, the language based on drum syllabels, and the counting of different Talas - perfect tools to calibrate your inner clock and to understand complex rhythmic connections.

In paralel, we give an introduction to the technique of typical Southindian instruments like Mridangam and Kanjira and show, how these techniques can be used on other percussion instruments and drums.
